Description
Book Title : The Drop & the Glop
Genre : Fiction
Author : Sanjiv Saran
About the Book : This is a gripping drama about parallel lives and contrasting characters. Embedded with humor and the beauty of the Himalayas, it is set against the 1965 India-Pakistan war and the liberation of Bangladesh in 1971. However, it is not a story about War. It is character-driven rather than plot-driven and explores multiple dimensions of the human experience. The tale evokes the intense passion of a young politician for a woman from the other side and his rise to power along the periphery of the two wars.
We share the simple joys, tragedy, mystery, and triumphs of an innocent shepherd girl in the mountains as she transforms into an undercover soldier and matures rapidly into womanhood. Meanwhile, a wounded soldier is trapped on the wrong side. Memory loss will cast a shadow of suspicion over his career. An ambitious General raises an army of infiltrators to incite revolt among Kashmiris. A ravishingly beautiful CIA agent remains an enigma to the end. A teenager on a solo trek in the Himalayas discovers the Wisdom of rustic India and the awakening of questions about Divinity.
Along the way, he gets sucked into a dramatic high-altitude kidnapping.
In November 2023, the novel was awarded the Readers Favorite International Gold Award for Literary Fiction in Miami, USA. In February 2024, it received the Golden Book Award in India.
